Over the last 2 years, Annmarie (my wife) and I have traveled around the country to try to figure out the truth about the raw food diet…

Through my research and by interviewing dozens of raw food health experts, I've learned why many people can't stick to a 100% raw food diet (or even a High Raw diet)
Over the last 2 years, I've interviewed over 200 experts in the field of health and nutrition – dozens in the field of raw food.
I've written 4 books on natural health and have spoken to thousands of people in over 50 cities about how to use the raw food diet to improve their health.
I'm an avid learner and wanted to know for myself, why most people don't stick to a raw food diet (myself included!).
The good news is, it's not necessarily because cooked food is addicting!
While cooked foods can be addictive because of emotional issues and physiological issues (mainly sugar and salt), it's not the only reason why we crave and want cooked foods.
Many times we crave because our bodies are chemically out of whack. Your hormones, digestion and nervous system are all working at half speed.
It's like an engine running on clumpy dirty oil. It works, but it's loud, clunky, and spits out dark smoke and gas. (sound familiar?)
So in order to success on a raw food diet – or let's face it, any diet – you need to be chemically in balance.
You need a reset or a reboot – something that eliminates the overload on your body and naturally restores your balance.
The raw food diet would be simple if everyone taught these 4 simple principles…
I've heard hundreds of different thoughts on why the raw food diet works or doesn't work – everything from you just need meat (we know this isn't true) to "Mercury is in retrograde."
And yes, while Mercury MAY be in retrograde, and everything else is out of sync, there are bigger more influential factors to why you're struggling.
I've been able to identify four reasons, why most people don't succeed and I want to share them with you.
These are the important keys I've identified…
1. Proper detoxification.
You need to find the right way to detoxify so your body's systems can work as they're supposed to.
Some herbal detoxification programs can be too harsh on the system, they can actually over stimulate the body.
Some juicing and fasting programs can under nourish you and leave your body searching for high density foods (yep, the ones that you really need to stay away from.)
Without the right detoxification philosophy, you end up adding more to the toxic load without even knowing it.
2. Proper calories from the right sources.
There's a constant battle in the raw food world about whether calories are important or not.
First off, I need to tell you they are important.
Despite the teachings of a few "health" experts, we do need more than air to get by. Calories provide us with energy to move, walk, sing, kiss, type on our computer and talk.
Without them, we eventually start to "eat" our own bodies and use our nutritional stores for energy.
So calories make sense, but there's more to the picture.
The second part is that you can't just eat enough calories and hope you get it right.
You need to get them from sources that are the right fuel for your body – easy to digest and easy to assimilate.
If you do get the right calories, it's easier to resist heavy cooked foods when you're around other people and much easier to stick to your raw food diet.
You have to be committed to your health and you have to try new things.
You have to break out of our comfort zone and just go for it. Some of my own biggest health breakthroughs have been through committing to something that I rationally didn't think would work for me.
You need a team… a strong one. Otherwise, you'll always give in.
