I wrote the “book”, then I bought the domain HowToStartaFraternity.com and managed to get it ranking #1 for the term “how to start a fraternity” after a few days.

I thought I was a genius.

That was almost 10 years ago before Google rolled out an algorithm update colloquially known as the “exact-match domain” update.

At the time, Google was easier to manipulate, and clowns like me were able to take advantage of it without all that much work.

Thankfully, a lot has changed since then.

Today, all you really need to do is follow a very simple rule:
Are you helping search engines answer their user’s questions?
